From monolithic design to microservices

Many different sectors are facing a transition from older, monolithic IT-systems to a service-oriented architecture. One such example is the media industry where customer behaviour is changing at a fast pace due to digitalisation. In partnership with the market leader in the media industry, we built an architecture that allowed multiple brands to share the same underlying subscription and payment services. The technology that was used broke old patterns and enabled a transition from traditional monolithic IT design to microservices in JavaScript. 

In a similar assignment for one of Sweden’s largest banks, we designed and developed the banking services and the internal administration system. A number of major legacy systems were plagued by inefficiency and pure hell when it was time to update the system. A new architecture based on microservices provided support for the required business processes that customers expects from a modern and flexible banking solution. 

Storage solution supported by modern front-end tools

We worked with one of Sweden’s leading real-estate companies in the development of a brand new type of storage service aimed at consumers. We were tasked with developing the software that ensures that incoming and outgoing boxes and belongings were photographed and linked to the right customer. This entailed programming QR scanners, cameras and printers using React/Redux, Node.js and other state-of-the-art, front-end technologies. 

DevOps and Continuous Delivery

When the pace speeds up and the market expects faster deliveries, a conflict often arises between being able to quickly deliver solutions that satisfy the needs of the user and the long-term requirement to maintain quality and control. 

Rapid deliveries, swift feedback and high quality are extremely important for creating relevant services in an ever-changing digital world. We are able to continuously deliver new software with minimal risk by combining agile development methods with automation, and a focus on eliminating bottlenecks and shortening lead times. These methods are known as DevOps and Continuous Delivery.
